Gwen Isaac grew up in Koror\u0101reka Russell in the Te Tai Tokerau Far North region of Aotearoa, New Zealand.<\/p>\n
Her remote childhood and her single mom upbringing, contribute to the characters and stories she is drawn to.<\/p>\n
Gwen\u00a0spent a decade creating television formats and directing factual and documentary series for broadcasters in the UK and USA. Highlights include Summer at Yorkminster<\/a> for BBC Scotland, <\/span>Heroes Unmasked<\/a> for NBC USA, <\/span>The Real Washington<\/a> for BBC World News and <\/span>Old Dogs, New Tricks<\/a> for ITV London as part of the prestigious Metroland series.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span>Where There is Life <\/a>(2017) her debut feature documentary was selected for the 2017 New Zealand International Film Festival. In 2019 Alex produced multi- award-winning web series, Jessica\u2019s Tree<\/em> and returning to film she co-produced Leanne Pooley\u2019s social impact film The Girl on the Bridge<\/em> and genre-bending feature, There\u2019s No \u201cI\u201d in Threesome<\/em> (HBO Max Original). In March, Rattle Records released a chamber orchestra piece\u00a0I\u2019ll Hum the First Few Bars<\/em>.<\/p>\n In 2022 he released the album\u00a0Ash and Bone<\/em>\u00a0through Rattle Records. In 2022 he also scored Loren Taylor\u2019s feature The Moon is Upside Down<\/em> and Paul Oremland\u2019s Mysterious Ways<\/em>. He won best TV score for the BBC series, Mystic<\/em>, with Steve Gallagher. In 2021 he scored the feature film\u00a0Punch<\/em>,\u00a0composed score for Tupua Tigafua\u2019s dance show,\u00a0Ciggy Butts In the Sand<\/em>\u00a0and won best score for the TV series, The Luminaries<\/em>. With Plan 9 music he created \u2018cultural music\u2019 for\u00a0Amazon\u2019s,\u00a0The Rings of Power<\/em>.<\/p>\n David was a founding member of The Mutton Birds with whom he made three albums. He also plays in the bands The Labcoats and Teeth. Since the late 1990s David has been writing music for film and television, alongside playing in bands and composing orchestral music. He has composed scores for over twenty feature films including\u00a0McLaren<\/em>\u00a0(for which he won the APRA Silver Scroll award for Best Original Music),\u00a0The Ground We Won<\/em>,\u00a025 April, 6 Days, Gardening with Soul<\/em>,\u00a0Beyond the Edge,\u00a0<\/em>and additional score for Peter Jackson\u2019s\u00a0The Lovely Bones<\/em>. For the\u00a0The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey<\/em>\u00a0he wrote (in collaboration with Plan 9 Music) \u2018Misty Mountain\u2019. He wrote music and created musical sound design for Peter Jackson\u2019s\u00a0Lord of the Rings<\/em>\u00a0trilogy and\u00a0King Kong<\/em>\u00a0(also with Plan 9 Music).<\/p>\n
